PrefaceVatarakta is a disease of multiple causation i.e. the metabolic or biochemical disturbance. In spite of the extensive research being conducted throughout the world, the plight of the patients of vatarakta is still a pitiable one. The diagnostic methods are not conclusive. There is a need for evolving a definite constructive programme for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of vatarakta. IntroductionEvery man derives the happiness and benefit of his life through locomotion i.e. using his joints. From the minute he loses this power of locomotion, he not only feels himself a miserable creature, but also becomes a burden both to his family and society. The loss or reduction in the locomotive power is due to the dysfunctioning of the joints causing an impediment to his movements. If not treated in time, this disease makes a cripple of the man.
