IntroductionThe Department of Archaeology in Hyderabad State was constituted in the Year 1914. It was thus not only one of the earliest departments of Archaeology in the Indian States but a proud pioneer. Its achievements, in preserving and restoring Archaeological and Historical Sites and Monuments and in the field of Excavations and Explorations in the old Hyderabad State, have won all round approbation from scholars and archaeologists from India and abroad. Its accomplishment in the field of publication are of a very high order and won universal praise from the art critics, historians and scholars alike.
